ROUNDUP Lincoln outshoots Danville

Salt Fork boys win season opener

LINCOLN — The Danville Vikings had three players in double figures but it wasn’t quite enough as the Lincoln Railsplitters beat the Vikings 63-52 on Wednesday night at the Lincoln Thanksgiving Tournament.

Sophomore D’Lando Carter had a team-high 15 points for the Vikings (0-2), while sophomore Joey Robinson scored 11 and senior Terrell Duckworth chipped in with 10.

Danville shot an impressive 58.5 percent from the field (24-of-41), but Lincoln matched them at 52.1 percent (25-of-48).

The difference in the game for the Railsplitters (2-0) came from the 3-point arc where they had nine made 3-pointers and Danville managed just two.

Danville junior Mario Crosby played for the first time on Wednesday night as he had a team-high five assists for the Vikings.

Crosby missed Monday’s season opener against Champaign Centennial after sustaining a concussion during a practice on Nov. 15.

In the other game played at Lincoln on Wednesday night, Champaign Centennial defeated Peoria Manual 76-66.

Up next for Danville is Friday’s 5:30 p.m. game against Peoria Manual (1-1).
