DANVILLE — Raul Guzman, who was named the 2009 Chicago Suburban League Player of the Year, signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Danville Area Community College.
Guzman, a 6-foot-6 inch, 255-pounder from Chicago Morton High School, averaged 15.4 points per game, 10.3 rebounds, 2.3 blocks and 3.8 assists per game.
Guzman also shot 37 percent from the 3-point line and hit a career-high seven 3’s against Hinsdale South en route to a 33-point, 14 rebound effort.
He led Morton to the 2009 Proviso West Holiday Tournament Championship, the West Suburban Golf Conference Championship, and the school’s first regional title since 2003.
“You don’t see many kids Raul’s size who can move and shoot like he does,” DACC coach Mike Carpenter said. “He is very skilled and plays with a ton of emotion.
“Zach Patterson is coming back from Wabash Valley College as an assistant coach for us at DACC next season and did a great job recruiting Raul. … He deserves all the credit.”
