ROUNDUP: Dans fall to BlueSox

Post 210 teams win in Cincinnai

BUTLER, Pa. — Danville Dans manager Pete Paciorek can see that his team is positioning itself for a second-half charge.

Danville is going to need one as the Dans ended the first half of the Prospect League season at 13-14 following a 3-2 loss to the Butler BlueSox on Friday night.

“We’ve had to battle through some injuries, some illness, and basically, we’ve been without two guys because of the College World Series,’’ Paciorke said. “We’re starting to get healthy and we know that Austin Nola and Mikie Mahtook (both from the National Champion LSU Tiger) will be joining us when we get home from this road trip.’’

The Dans also have a better schedule in the second half as they play their final 26 games over 35 days. Today’s game in Lorain, Ohio, against the North Coast Knights will be the team’s 28th game in 30 days.

“Those extra off-days are also going to be very valuable,’’ Paciorek said. “We’re not happy with our results in the first half, because of the talent we have on this team.’’

The BlueSox scored the winning run in the eighth inning as Ryan McChesney scored from second base on Greg Desantis fielder’s choice ground out.

“Chris Lewellyn made the right play, but his throw was just a little late to the plate,’’ Paciorek said. “Ultimately, we had opportunities to score more than we did and we didn’t take advantage of them.’’

Nate Johnson had the only RBI for Danville with a first-inning, run-scoring single. Frank Rawdow led the Dans offense with three hits, while Jason Nappi had two.
