CISSNA PARK — The Bismarck-Henning girls basketball team used its tough defense to once again sweep past the rest at the Cissna Park Tip-Off Classic.
After running through pool play throughout the week, the Blue Devils defeated host Cissna Park 39-31 in the semifinals on Saturday before defeating Unity 38-26 to win its fourth straight tournament title.
In the title game, Jessica Brito had 20 points for Bismarck-Henning, who only allowed one point in the first quarter.
Jeni Free and Kari Free each had five points with Courtney Reinken and Lori Haas each scoring four. Brito had five steals and Jeni Free had nine rebounds.
Against Cissna Park, Brito had 1- points and Jeni Free added 10 points and 11 rebounds. Reinken had six points and 10 rebounds.
For their efforts, Brito, Reinken and Jeni Free were named to the All-Tournament team.
Armstrong-Potomac defeated Clifton Central 48-40 in its first game, but lost to Watseka 52-28 in the consolation final.
Kara Carter had 18 points in the first game and 14 in the second game. She was also the winner of the 3-point contest and was named to the All-Tournament team.
Oakwood wins first game of Classic
FITHIAN — Amy Martin had 31points as the Comets defeated Georgetown-Ridge Farm 64-20 in their first game of the McDonald’s Comets Classic.
Makenzie Baker had 19 points for Oakwood, who took a 41-10 lead at halftime.
Karson Gragert led the Buffaloes with 13 points and Sawyer Winland had four.
The Buffaloes also lost 62-23 to Milford earlier in the day. Jess Cann led the Bearcats with 14 points with Shelby Sumner adding 13. Gragert had seven points.
Milford would defeat Blue Ridge 56-48 in the final game of the night as Ashlen Portwood scored 23 points and Sumner added 12.
Chrisman defeated Hoopeston Area 49-31 to start the day, but lost 55-54 to Urbana University High in overtime.
Brooke Wolfe had 14 points in the first game and 25 in the second for the Cardinals with Jocelyn Kindred scoring a total of 18 points in the two games and Mary McKee adding 17.
Lacey Simpson had 10 points for the Cornjerkers in the game against Chrisman, while Kelsey Norton had 15 in a 71-41 loss to Shiloh later in the day.
Westville played one game on Saturday in a 59-43 loss to Urbana University High. Kayla Bryant led the Tigers with 18 points.
The tournament continues on Monday.

VEEDERSBURG, Ind. — Kenzi Lindquist had 15 points to lead the Mustangs past South Newton in game that was moved from Friday because of Fountain Central football.
Lauren Krout had 12 points for Fountain Central, who took a 21-6 lead after the first quarter and cruised from there. Chelsea Carver and Megan Robinson each had 10 and Kinlie Bowman added eight.
The Mustangs are 2-2 and will face Northmont on Tuesday.

Fountain Central tickets on sale Monday
VEEDERSBURG, Ind. — Pre-sale tickets for Fountain Central’s Class 1A title game at Indianapolis on Friday will go on sale on Monday at the main entrance to Fountain Central High School.
Tickets will be on sale from 4-7 p.m. (Eastern) on Monday, Tuesday from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and 4-7 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Tickets are for $15 for the game, which will be on Friday at 2:30 p.m. Lucas Oil Stadium. The Mustangs will take on Lafayette Central Catholic.

DOWNERS GROVE — Jacob Wright had six points in overtime as the Knights won their first game of the season.
Daniel Wells had 21 points to lead First Baptist, who was down for most of the game before tying things up at 52 at the end of regulation. Wright, Tyler Foley and Scotty Bland each added 10 points.

Drennan 11th in state butterfly
WINNETKA — After finishing in the lower end of qualifiers on Friday, Danville’s Lauren Drennan was 11th in the state final in the 100-yard butter fly event.
Drennan had a time of 58.20 seconds in the event. Going into the state meet, Drennan had been undefeated in the butterfly.

Falcons win Warrior Classic
MARSHALL, Ind. — Five North Vermillion wrestlers won individual titles as the team started the season on a good note by winning the championship at the Turkey Run Warrior Classic.
Kyle Tolbert (103 pounds), Dustin Tolbert (119), Austin Shell (140), Wade Harrison (145) and Aaron Riggen (189) won the titles for the Falcons with 5-0 records.

DANVILLE — The Jaguars could not come back from an early deficit as they lost to the Warriors at home.
Rend Lake took a 12-2 lead and would be up 42-28 at halftime. DACC could only get within six for the rest of the way.
Tim Toler had 14 points to lead the Jaguars with KC Victor scoring 12 and Allen Clark adding 10. The team was playing without leading scorer Derwin Gage, who had a death in his family.
DACC (3-4) will play Dec. 2 at Lincoln Trail College.
