EAST PEORIA —
The Danville Area Community College women’s basketball season ended on Saturday with a 65-61 defeat to top seed Illinois Central College at the Region 24 Tournament.
Megan Hiner led the way for the Lady Jaguars with 13 points while Hillary Lively had 12 points and eight rebounds, Kameren Cole had 10 points and Tierra Golightly and Stephanie Lord each added nine points and seven rebounds.
“They were able to cut the lead down to two and we had some shots to win it at the end,” DACC coach Kyle Bent said. “The kids played hard, but we could not get the win.”
The loss ends DACC’s season at 22-10, a far cry from Bent’s first season at the helm with only three victories.
“We won 19 games last season and our goal was to beat that total and we did that,” Bent said. “To get to the Final Four is a big step for the program and we hope to continue to push the envelope for next season.”
Illinois Central will play Lake Land College today for the Region 24 title.
