MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. —
Danville Area Community College sophomore Tyler McKenzie extended his RBI streak to five games on Tuesday.
McKenzie, a former standout at Bismarck-Henning, went 0-for-2 in the Jaguars 7-2 win over St. Clair Community College of Michigan ending his four-game hitting streak.
But McKenzie’s run-scoring groundout in the sixth gives him 8 RBIs in DACC’s first five games of the season.
Another area standout, Alec Neal from Schlarman, picked up the save on Tuesday with three shutout innings of relief.
Neal, a freshman for DACC, allowed just two hits while walking none and striking out two.
Cam Clark got the victory for the Jaguars, who improve to 4-1 on their season-opening eight-game trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C.
DACC got all the offense it would need with a 5-run fourth. Center field Mike Walker had a key 2-run single in the inning.
Mark Keller and Caleb Etchison each had a pair of hits as the Jaguars finished with nine hits and Pete Strommen had the game’s only extra-base hit with a double in the fourth inning.
DACC is off today, but they will play Lansing Community College of Michigan and Owens Community College of Ohio on Thursday.
