TOLEDO — With two first-place finishes, the Oakwood wrestling team was able to place fourth as a team in an IHSA Class 1A regional at Cumberland High School.
Dacian Alvarez (112 pounds) and Mikal Harden (145) won individual titles for the Comets with Alavarez winning by decision and Harden winning by default.
Also advancing for the Comets were Wesley Patton who took second at 119, Dylan Fletcher, who took second at 125 and Clay Smith, who took third at 171.
Schlarman was seventh as a team, but was in the hunt to advance some wrestlers into next week’s sectional.
While the only advancing Hilltopper was Spencer Tolson, who took second at 285, Jonathan Beaulier (103), Lee Cooper (112), Nathaniel Ames (189) and Joe Cahill (215) each were in the third-place match for the final qualifying spot and could not get the win.
All wrestlers who advanced will next wrestle weekend at the Robinson sectional.
Drollinger wins for Cornjerkers
FAIRBURY — While Hoopeston Area finished sixth as a team in a Class 1A regional at Prairie Central High School, it had three wrestlers make title matches.
Zach Drollinger (145) was the only winner, taking his match by pinfall in 2 minutes, 21 seconds. Zach Judy (140) and Robbie Irvin (152) took second. Josh Johnson (103) and Ethan Ervin (135) took third.
Bismarck-Henning was tied for fourth as Dakota Patton took second at 189 while Jacob Carter (112), Garrett Carter (125) and Morgan Supergan (285) took third place.
Moore moves on to sectional
MAHOMET — Westville’s Justin Moore was the only local wrestler to move on in an IHSA Class 2A regional at Mahomet-Seymour High School.
Moore was able to defeat Champaign Centennial’s Jay Romans 6-4 in overtime to get third place and the last spot at 130 pounds.
Danville was the other local team at the regional with Jose Munoz getting close to sectional action, losing 3-2 in a 285-pound third-place matchup.
Five qualify for semi-state
CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — Eli Moore won at 130 for Fountain Central, who had two others make it to next week’s semistate at New Castle, Ind.
Joining Moore for the Mustangs is Sam Shoaf (160) and Scott Moore (189), who each took second in their respective classes.
North Vermillion had two wrestlers move on with Austin Shell (135) and Caleb Miller (285) each taking second.
Hicks remains
undefeated
LOGANSPORT, Ind. — Jordan Hicks remains undefeated with a 43-0 record for Seeger after winning the 125 pound title at an IHSAA regional.
Taylor Hanthorne (112) got fourth place while Zach Mukai (285) took a second-place finish and will be joining Hicks in semistate action next week at Merrillville.

JAMAICA — The Storm overcame a slow start to get the win and boost their Vermilion Valley Conference lead over the Tigers.
Ryan Anderson had 14 points to lead the Storm, who was down 13-8 after the first quarter and 23-21 at halftime, while Joel Learnard had 13, Joe Pratt had eight and Josh Chandler added seven.
Matt Maser had 15 to lead Westville, while Mitchell Bryan t had 13 points and Brendon Severado added nine.

DANVILLE — Heath Goodwin had 13 points as the Hilltoppers got past the Bearcats.
Matt Chamberlain had nine points for Schlarman, who put the game away by outscoring Milford 22-12 in the fourth quarter, Nathan Tissier had seven and Adam Pellegrini and Refugio Guerrero each had six.
Beau Fitzgerald led Milford with 14 points, Tyler Allison had 11 and Aric Cooke added six.

FARMERSBURG, Ind. — Hillary Lively had 15 points as the Falcons survived the challenge of North Central in the regular season finale.
Taylor Turchi had 14 points for North Vermillion, while Bethany Chew had 12 and Darby Martin added 10.
The Falcons are 18-2 and will start sectional play on Tuesday against Attica.

Vikings sixth at Big 12 Championships
BLOOMINGTON — Storm Strader had the highest individual Danville finish as the Vikings was sixth at the Big 12 swimming meet.
Strader took third in the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.04) while Jon Delzell was fifth in the 100 freestyle (51.48) and Brian Holst was sixth in the 100 butterfly (59.13).
The 400 relay team of Delzell, Holst, Strader and Ben Irle was third at the 400 freestyle with its best time of the season (3:30.86).
The Vikings will be back in action on Feb. 20 at an IHSA sectional meet at Champaign Centennial.

Local swimmers compete in finals
CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — The finals of a IHSAA sectional at Crawfordsville High School did not have any local swimmers advance to regional action.
Some of the top competitors for the day were Fountain Central’s Mackenzie Sheldon, who was third in the 200-yard freestyle (2:11.47), and fifth in the 100 backstroke (1:08.91), Seeger’s Jennifer Haddock was sixth in the 50 freestyle (27.43) and fifth in the 100 freestyle (1:00.75) and Lyndi Hollis was fifth in the 500 freestyle (6:15.56).

GODFREY — The Jaguars got close at times, but could not get over the hump to defeat Lewis & Clark.
Tim Toler had 23 points with nine rebounds for DACC while David Smith had 18 points and 10 rebounds, KC Victor had 16 points and Derwin Gage added 10.
The Jaguars will try to regroup against Lincoln College on Wednesday.

DANVILLE — The Inferno was down 4-1 in the first period and could not recover as they lost to the Rampage.
Vincent D’Andrea, Tanner Woolaver and Travis Reed each scored for Danville while Reed and Elliott Holstrom each had an assist.
Mitchell Savola had 11 saves and Taylor Ludy had 44 in relief for the Inferno, who is 0-42 and will wrap up the series with Wisconsin today at 1:30 p.m.
