ULLIN — Some teams might experience a letdown after beating a nationally-ranked opponent.

But, that wasn’t the case on Wednesday night for the Danville Area Community College Jaguars.

After falling behind 35-26 at halftime, the Jaguars opened the second half with an 18-1 run en route to the team’s third straight victory.

“These guys are really starting to play some of their best basketball,’’ DACC coach Mike Carpenter said. “Shawnee had a big crowd tonight and we weathered the storm in the first half.

“In the second half, we came out and played some of best offensive and defensive basketball of the season.’’

Shawnee didn’t have a field goal for 12 minutes in the second half and the Jaguars outscored the Saints 37-13 in the final 20 minutes.

DACC used a balanced attack with Brandon Demmings scoring a team-high 16 points. The other three players in double figures for the Jaguars were Evan Blackmon (12), Derek Shouse (11) and Shea Sumpter (11).

Up next for DACC is a matchup with Parkland College on Saturday at 4 p.m. with free admission for both the women’s game, which starts at 2, and the men’s game.
